2nd day of school
The reference photo on left, my quick painting on the right.
I had the chance to take an oil painting portrait workshop from Beki Tobiasson the 2nd and 3rd days of school. :) I really enjoyed it. I only got about 5 hours to paint this but I was happy with what I learned and I do enjoy oils!!!
On Saturday I met Michal up at the Summit Trailhead past Aspen Grove on the Alpine Loop. We ran over to the Aspen Grove trail, up to Emerald Lake, across boulder hill and through the big flower meadow and onto Timpanooke trail. We then connected on two other little trails back to our cars. We drove seperate because Michal was doing 24 miles for her training and I didn' t have time for that. 6 hours of trail running was Awesome enough. I got to see So Many Mountain Goats, waterfalls, flowers and people. It was a Saturday. SO CROWDED. UGh. We need to change our long days to Wednesdays now that I can go on a school day.
These pictures are all out of order...
The cutest red berries...
This is a weird photo but if you look closely it is snow covered with debris. It was where an avalanche was probably and all of that is destroyed trees scattered on top of what is left of the snow. So crazy. We crossed through water at least 20 times. Last year we walked through water 2-3 times.
The river came out under this frozen part of snow.
The flowers were SOOOO Great!
This is at Emerald Lake. If you look closely there is a man holding onto his husky because a whole family of mountain goats decided to come say Hi. Dad, Mom and twins I am assuming. They weren't down there when we first got there and then we watched them walk down the mountain around one of the fingers of water and they marched right out there. Maybe they wanted to see the dog? I have no idea but they were Not afraid, we basically moved out of their way. They got so close. They thankfully aren't very big so we weren't afraid.
The husky did not move. CRAZY. Oh and right after this shot a man jumped in that water to swim for a bit with the ICE. Ahh!
We also watched another guy ski down this glacier all while the mountain goats were walking right by us.
If you look close enough this picture is full of mountain goats. Watching them hop up those cliffs was fascinating.
These pictures all have mountain goats in them.
These were the first ones we saw.
We had to cross through at least 5-7 patches of snow.
Last year none.
It was an incredible day!!!
