Here is his second letter that tells more about his district. I went to High School with his Companion Elder Peterson's parents. I didn't know either of them well but was in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers with his dad. Funny. Spencer loved his district and said it was hard leaving them.
So here we are again. I'm goimg to try something new with this week's email so bear with me if it's a little discombobulated.
This last week has been infinitely faster than the first, but last week feels like eternity ago. Me and the boys of District 7G have decided that the MTC bends space time continuum and time is completely irrelevant here.
Speaking of the boys, I totally forgot to talk about my district. My district is super awesome and is full of faithful missionaries. Because of them, It has never been easier for me to stay motivated in my entire life. I just hope that motivation keeps going Haha. But anyways there are three other sets of elders and three sets of sisters.
Elder Petersen is my companion and despite our incident after the gym he's super athletic. We get along so well and nobody knows how to force me to focus like he does. I'm going to miss him tons.
Elder Bluemel and Elder Gundersen are both super cool, Elder Bluemel is a super personable dude from Bakersfield Cali, and Elder Gundersen is super spiritual and doctrinally intelligent coming out of the middle of Idaho somewhere near Rigby. They are going to Atlanta.
Elder Young and Elder Cooper room with us as well as Bluemel and Gundersen, Elder Young is a military brat but he's super chill, he is also very good at loving his companion despite them having little to nothing in common, he is definitely an excellent example to me. Elder Cooper is something else Haha, he's hailing out of a small town in Florida and freezing his butt off already. They are going to Idaho Pocatello so hopefully he's in the Nevada part of that mission hahaha.
Elder Warner and Elder Pugh are hilarious. Elder Warner comes out of the middle of nowhere Utah and taught us to shine our shoes. He's super animated when he talks and he totally embraces it. Elder Pugh is deaf in one ear and has a coclear implant in the other, and I have never heard more deaf jokes from one person. E Pugh is probably one of the funniest and most joyful people I've ever met. They are going to Knoxville Tennesee.
The sisters are all way nicer and more spiritual than us.
Sister Trapp and Sister Jenkins are both super cool and kinda feel like sisters to us. Sis Trapp is from Colorado but was just at BYU and Sis Jenkins is from Nampa Idaho. Sis Jenkins believes in magic rocks or something and so far we think sis Trapp is normal. They are going to Gilbert Arizona.
Sister Tracy and Sister Roenfeldt are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, sis tracy is from Georgia and has thick southern accent and sis Roenfeldt is from Seattle. They are serving at Temple square in salt lake.
Sister Nelson and Sister Olson are both really awesome. Sister Olson is a musical prodigy and Sister Nelson is our Ace in volleyball. They are going to Lancing Michigan.
Phew, That took me longer than I expected, but I'm going to be super sad to see them all go, luckily I'll have my mission to focus on so I won't be too sad.
I've realized that pday is my least favorite day. Don't get me wrong this is one of the highlights of my week, but when we are in the spiritual groove, time just flies and we become solely instruments of the lord. We've been killing it with our practice investigators, which we think both are real. So far it appears my greatest strength is getting people to open up with inspired questions, but we'll see when I get in the field.
We got to go to the temple last week and that was awesome, we also sang like 100 hymns on Sunday which reinstated my hatred for singing just a little bit. We also had our departure devotional a week early because of conference (which we are so stoked about) so we had double devotionals on Sunday which sounds awful but it was actually really good. I honestly can't remember what the dev's were all about but I got tons of notes so we made good. Tuesday we had another devotional from a Korean 70 that used to be a military sergeant. Before speaking he said "if you don't like it, like it" and "if you don't understand my wife and I's broken English it's your fault" hahaha. The devotional turned out really good, and it turns out that a lot of stuff in preach my gospel used to find investigators can be used to find your eternal companion hahaha.
So yesterday we had probably the worst steak I've ever seen let alone partaken of. I'm not trying to sound like I'm murmuring or anything but this steak was like extra well done on like medium heat and may have been just a quarter inch biscuit of horse. So it's safe to say eating it was the greatest "misteak" of my life.
Anyways this email is already mega long so I'm just gonna end it with an Invitation to all of you watch conference this weekend and go in with questions to be answered. I love you all
Elder Evans
